Tumblr is an incredibly simple blogging tool that can be used for collating and sharing images, video, text..anything really.
In the classroom, it can be a good repository for your resources as it's quick to use and students can navigate it easily. It could also be very useful for students to use in groups to carryout and collate research together. It's also available as a free app so they can post on the go from their phones.
NB: as far as I am aware, all tumblr sites are public so it is not the best for students to submit final assignments. Something like blogger or wordpress would be more suitable.
